Onyx

Meet Onyx!  He is a 2 year old, 75lb black lab that was surrendered by his owner after they moved and could not take him.

Personality

Onyx is a friendly, fun-loving goofball who has a way of making everyone around him smile. His foster family describes him as incredibly friendly, and we can definitely confirm that! He has been an absolute joy to have around and is always ready to make new friends.

Onyx is great with children of all ages and does well with other dogs and cats. He loves being around people and is happiest when he is included in the action. Whether he is playing ball, going for a walk, or just hanging out with his people, Onyx is always ready for some fun.

Training

Onyx appears to be housebroken and crate trained, which makes him a great addition to a home looking for a dog who already has some important basics down.  He does need some continued leash training. Onyx gets pretty excited about his walks and sometimes forgets that there is actually someone on the other end of the leash! With some consistency and patience, he should continue to improve.

Updates

Onyx is a sweet, big headed, lunk of a boy.  He loves to hang out with humans and gets along well with our dogs.
He is house trained and crate trained.  He goes into the crate voluntarily without complaint.  He has begun sleeping in a dog bed in our room and having run of the house when we are gone for short times with no incidents. He is food enthusiastic but waits to be served like a good boy.  He does not resource guard.   He knows some basic commands – sit, paw, come. He does occasionally try to join his humans on the bed or couch but will get down when asked.
Onyx is an enthusiastic walker who loves to explore all the sights and smells on the route.  He does need some more leash work and is a strong boy
Overall he just wants to be part of the family and would fit in just about anywhere.
