Meet Lucy!  She is a 10 month old, 42lb yellow lab hound mix who was surrendered to a shelter.

Personality:
Lucy is a sweet girl with a gentle heart who arrived at rescue timid and shy.  She can be nervous when meeting new people but once she feels comfortable, her affectionate and loving personality starts to shine through. She is an absolute snuggle bug!  She loves toys and bones and has such a playful spirit. She is currently in foster with 2 other dogs and is very dog friendly.  She loves to play and snuggle with her furry friends!

Training:
Lucy has made huge strides in her training. .  She is almost housetrained and will go to the door when she needs out.  She sleeps through the night uncrated without issue.  She is still learning to be more comfortable in a crate (she can be vocal at first).  She is a great leash walker and loves to explore outside.  She doesn’t know any commands but is very treat motivated and will learn quickly.

Medical Disclosure:  Lucy is heartworm positive.  She will be on exercise restriction until she is through treatment.  CLR will cover the cost of care.

Updates

Lucy has settled into the routine and she is thriving!  She is such a sweet, affectionate girl!  She is an A+ snuggler and loves being around her humans.  She also is obsessed with her foster siblings…she loves other dogs!

It has been amazing to watch her personality start to shine as she has gained confidence in her new environment.  She is meeting the neighbors and is starting to be more comfortable with new people (she is very shy at first).  She is always very curious though so you can tell that she wants to be in all of the action.

She took a trip to Graeters this week and got a pup cup.  She loved it!  She seems to really enjoy walks (although we have to keep them short as she is heartworm positive).

As for her heartworm, she is now 30 days into her treatment and will have an injection this week.  This is a key milestone, and it puts her in the homestretch!  She is expected to make a full recovery with no long term impact.

Lucy has been in foster care for a few days, and it has been amazing watching her blossom.  She arrived very scared but has quickly started to settle in.  She is SO sweet and is showing more and more of her personality each day.  We are starting to see her more affectionate side, with big smiles and turbo tail wags.

Lucy loves…Food, Toys, other dogs, outdoor time, and couch naps. She is so adorable!

Lucy has already made big strides with basic training.  She is learning to go to the door when she needs outside and is having fewer accidents.  She is very smart and a quick learner so she will have it down soon!
