Meet Gunner!  He is a 3 year old, 118lb Silver lab that was surrendered by his owners due to incompatibility with children.

Personality:  Gunner is a happy-go-lucky goofball who lives life at full volume. He loves toys and almost always has one in his mouth—he’s the type who proudly parades around the house showing off his prized possession. Fetch is a favorite activity, and when playtime is over, he’s just as content to chew on a bone and relax nearby.

This big boy is super affectionate and shows his love with big, sloppy kisses. He has zero understanding of Personal space.  If you sit down, expect Gunner to be right there with you, soaking up attention and affection. He bonds strongly with his people and thrives on connection and interaction.  Gunner also does well with other dogs.  He is curious and engaging with dogs but also respects boundaries.

Gunner is a very active boy with high energy.  He would thrive in a home with an active owner and would enjoy a big fenced in yard for exercise.

Training:  Gunner knows his basic commands and is house trained, which gives him a great foundation to build on. Because he’s a big, energetic boy, he’s still working on leash manners and overall manners. He understands boundaries but does best with a strong, consistent leader who can help reinforce good habits and guide him with structure.

Gunner will need a home that is committed to his training.  Given his size and energy level, it is important that he has a strong leader.  We are also recommending a family with no children.

Updates

Gunner has been in foster for about a week.  The first few days were a transition period for Gunner – which is understandable given the amount of change.  He is blossoming and really starting to show his personality.

Gunner is a high energy dog and needs a lot of exercise and attention.  He is on activity restriction for a few more days as he recovers from his neuter but we are excited to get him out for runs / fetch.  He is OBSESSED with toys and bones and carries them around.  It’s adorable!

Gunner is a shadow.  He will follow his human everywhere. He just wants to be where his people are.  He loves to snuggle but doesn’t know his size.  Sloppy kisses are his expertise!

He knows most of the basics in terms of training.  He is housetrained but does not like the crate.  He can be stressed on car rides but I think some of his anxiety is due to the transition.  He is working on learning boundaries and being able to control his energy.  He can be a little mouthy when playing.

Gunner is a very happy and affectionate boy!
