Meet Riley! He is a 2 year old, 57lb yellow lab that was found stray in Kentucky.
Personality:
Riley is a happy, people-loving Lab who is ready to charm his way straight into your heart. He’s friendly with both dogs and people and walks nicely on a leash, making him an easy companion for daily strolls or outings.
What really sets Riley apart is his love for people. He’s the kind of dog who leans his whole body into you for affection — the classic “Lab lean” — and once he’s close, he’s all about the belly rubs. If you’re looking for a dog who truly enjoys human connection and wants to be right by your side, Riley is your guy.
Riley would thrive in a home where he can soak up attention, share cuddles, and be treated like a full-fledged family member. He brings warmth, affection, and that unmistakable Labrador love wherever he goes.
Medical Disclosure: Riley is heartworm positive and is undergoing treatment. CLR will cover the cost of his care.
Updates
Riley has officially passed his 3-week milestone in foster care, and he’s been settling in nicely. He’s a sweet, affectionate guy who clearly enjoys being close to his people. When given the chance to roam freely, Riley is happiest staying right by his human’s side — he’s the definition of a loyal shadow and would thrive with someone who enjoys a constant companion.
Riley is currently heartworm positive, so his activity is being carefully limited while he goes through treatment. Because of this, he’s living a calmer lifestyle right now, which makes him a great candidate for a home that values routine, patience, and low-key companionship during his recovery.
He’s still working on a few house manners, which is very normal for a dog adjusting to a new environment. Riley is on a consistent potty routine and is taken out every few hours. While he understands the routine, he has had some accidents, so he’ll need a home that’s committed to continued house-training and supervision as he settles in. Consistency and time will be key here.
Crating is another area Riley is learning about. When confined, he will bark for about 20 minutes before settling, so a home willing to work on crate comfort — or explore alternative confinement options — would be ideal. When not crated, he does wonderfully and relaxes calmly near his person.
Riley enjoys appropriate chew toys and especially loves interactive toys that make him think and work to find treats. These enrichment activities have been great for keeping his mind busy while his physical activity is limited.
Riley’s ideal home will be patient, understanding, and willing to continue working on training while providing him with love and structure. In return, they’ll get a devoted, affectionate dog who just wants to be near his person and be part of everyday life.
