Meet Foghat! He is a 4 month old, 23lb black lab mix that was surrendered to a shelter in Tennessee. He arrived with his brother, Bruno, who is also available for adoption. (They can be adopted separately).
Personality
Foghat is a sweet, playful, affectionate boy who loves being part of the action. If there’s something fun happening, you can bet Foghat wants to be involved! He gets along wonderfully with both dogs and kids and is always ready for a game of chase, a little roughhousing, or a new adventure.
Foghat especially loves playing with his four-legged and two-legged friends, so he would likely thrive in a home with playmates who can keep up with his fun-loving personality.
And when the excitement winds down, Foghat is more than happy to switch gears and snuggle up with his people. He has a wonderful balance of playful energy and affection and loves being close to his family.
Foghat does have a high prey drive. He loves to chase squirrels, birds, cats, and other small animals, so a home without small pets would be the best fit for him.
Training
Foghat is a very treat-motivated boy, which has been a huge help with his training. He’s eager to work for treats and has lots of potential to become an incredibly well-trained companion with continued consistency and positive reinforcement.
He does well settling in his crate after a few minutes, but he can be quite vocal when he knows his people are nearby and he can’t be with them. We’re working on helping Foghat understand that being separated from his people is okay and that he can relax and enjoy some independence.
Foghat would thrive with a patient, loving family who will continue building his confidence, provide plenty of opportunities for exercise and play, and help him learn that some quiet time away from his people is okay, too.
Foghat is a fun-loving, affectionate dog with a BIG personality. He keeps us laughing, keeps everyone entertained, and is just an all-around wonderful boy to have around!
