Personality
Mellow is full of life, love, and endless enthusiasm! She is a happy-go-lucky pup who wakes up ready to make every day an adventure. Her foster family describes her as a total lover girl with a goofy personality that keeps everyone laughing.
If you’re looking for a Velcro dog, Mellow is your perfect match. She absolutely adores people and wants to be wherever her humans are. Whether she’s playing with toys, following you from room to room, or trying to sneak in a few extra kisses, Mellow is happiest when she’s with her people. Personal space isn’t really her thing, and she firmly believes everyone wants a kiss and a cuddle.
One of Mellow’s most impressive qualities is her easygoing nature. She shows no signs of resource guarding and has been incredibly relaxed around food, toys, water, and handling. Her tail is almost always wagging, and she approaches life with a joyful attitude.
Mellow would thrive with an active family or couple who enjoys walks, playtime, and plenty of interaction. Because she’s energetic and still learning that not everyone appreciates kangaroo-style greetings, she would likely do best with older children. A fenced yard where she can burn off some of her energy would be a huge bonus.
Mellow does have a strong prey drive and would not be a good fit for a home with cats or other small critters. Around other dogs on walks, she has been friendly and non-reactive, happily wagging her tail when she sees them.
Training
Mellow is a smart girl who is eager to learn. She has already mastered “sit” and is currently working on “stay” and “paw.” She is very food-motivated and enjoys training sessions with her people.
She walks nicely on a harness and enjoys getting out for daily walks and adventures. Mellow crates well and will go right into her crate when asked, though she may need a little time to settle down before relaxing.
Like many young dogs, Mellow is still working on her manners and potty training. She will need a family committed to continuing her training and helping her learn the rules of the house. With consistency, patience, and plenty of positive reinforcement, there’s no doubt this eager and affectionate girl will continue to make great progress.
