Meet Loona!  She is a 1.5 year old, 40lb lab mix.  Prior to arriving at CLR, she was brought to shelter in Mississippi after being hit by a car.  She spent the past 2 months in the shelter healing inside and out.  She is now ready for her forever home!

Personality:  Loona is a gentle soul with a heart full of love.  She has the absolute best temperament.  She is so loving, sweet, and playful!  She adores both dogs and humans, making her the perfect companion for any household. She arrived to the shelter scared and shy, and she is now blossoming in foster care!

Training:   Loona is our resident good girl!  She is very well-behaved and has great manners. She has had no accidents in the house and sleeps quietly in her crate in the bedroom throughout the night. While she is still a bit fearful of going outside the fenced yard for walks, she does very well at the dog park, interacting happily with other dogs and humans.

Interests:  Loona loves her toys and bones, managing to gather every nylabone and cow bone in the house. She loves to romp and play with other dogs and always enjoys a trip to the dog park.

Updates

Luna has been with us for three weeks now.  She continues to be very easy and fits right into our household.  Our 75 lb. big baby of a Lab actually initiates playing with her, something he hasn’t done with any of the other dogs we’ve fostered.  It’s very fun to watch this big lug and little girl tugging on a lamb stuffie.

Luna loves attention and belly rubs from her humans, and is small enough to sit on your lap.  But she’s also content to just hang out in a dog bed.  We call her our little mini-lab.  She loves toys and has managed to surround herself with just about every nylabone and cow bone in our house.

She has had no accidents, and continues to sleep quietly in a crate in our bedroom all night.  We’ve also had her in our bed a couple of times, and she’s a great little cuddler!

She’s still fearful of going outside our fenced yard for walks.  But we’ve taken her to the dog park a few times and she’s very social, loves running around interacting with the other dogs and humans.  She’s very calm for being so young, but does need some exercise periodically, whether it’s running around a yard with her humans and/or dog friends, or trips to a dog park.

This little girl continues to amaze us with her sweetness and happy disposition.  We know she’ll bring a lot of joy to any person or family who wants a smaller Lab and can offer her all the love and care she deserves.

We brought Luna home on Saturday afternoon.  We had been told what an amazing girl she was, and found out immediately just how true it was.  We just fell in love with her right away.

After being through such a difficult time, this little girl is just the happiest, sweetest, most loving dog.  She makes us laugh all the time.  Overall, she’s very relaxed and content to lay on a dog bed with her accumulation of toys from the toy box, mostly nylabones.  Then she’ll have a sudden burst of energy, run over to visit with each of us, including our dogs, then go back to her bed and resume relaxing or chewing on her bone.

She’s crate and house trained.  She has been sleeping in a crate in our bedroom at night and has no trouble sleeping through the night. No accidents.

Luna would do great in any home given her disposition.  Her only challenge is going on walks. Due to the trauma of being hit by a car, she’s very afraid of being outside our yard.  We’ve tried walking her on our street and along the path at Armleder Park.  For both, she has expressed a lot of fear.  With time and training, she may get past it.  We haven’t brought her to a dog park to interact with other dogs yet, but that would be a great potential way to give her time to run around in a big space and socialize with other dogs.  She loves running around our yard and comes right back when called. An improvement over our own dogs!
