Meet Lilly!  She is a 5 month old, 55lb black lab mix that was found stray in Kentucky.

Personality:  Lilly is a high-energy pup who thrives on activity and mental stimulation. She’s an excellent retriever and absolutely loves toys—especially anything she can carry, chase, or chew.  Lilly wants to be involved in everything around her and enjoys exploring her environment. She’ll do best in an active home that can provide plenty of playtime, exercise, and enrichment to keep her happy and fulfilled.  We also feel that she will need a home with another dog to really shine!

Training:  Lilly is a quick learner who responds very well to training, especially when treats are involved. She already knows and responds to the “sit” command and is eager to learn more.

Updates

Lilly is a happy, fun-loving puppy who brings nonstop joy and energy into our home. She is still learning the ropes of house training, which is completely normal for her age, and she’s already making progress with a consistent routine. Because she loves her water and drinks enthusiastically, we’ve found that regular potty breaks and a simple schedule set her up for success. She’s especially good about going out as soon as she wakes up, and she’s catching on quickly to what’s expected of her.

Lilly has been absolutely wonderful with crate training. The crate has become a cozy, safe space for her to relax after playtime, and she settles herself nicely. She may protest for a brief moment, but she quickly curls up and naps. She sleeps through the night with no accidents and no interruptions, which is impressive for a puppy. She also eats her meals in her crate and seems very comfortable with the routine, making transitions easy and stress-free.

Mealtime is one of Lilly’s favorite events of the day. She eats enthusiastically and has a healthy appetite, which makes training and routines easier since she is very food motivated. This enthusiasm will make her a great candidate for training as she grows and learns new skills.

Lilly has a playful, social style with other dogs and does great with canine friends. She loves to wrestle and play, and her confidence and friendly nature really shine during playtime. She is curious about cats and wants to be their friend, though she can be a bit too enthusiastic in her puppy way, so a home with dog-savvy cats or proper introductions and guidance would be best. She has not shown any reactive behaviors and is simply a happy, playful puppy who wants to engage with the world around her.

Training is just beginning for Lilly, and she already knows sit and is starting to learn lay down. She is very responsive to treats, which makes her eager to learn and easy to motivate. On walks, she is still working on her leash skills, but she’s already showing great potential and responds well to positive reinforcement. With consistency, she’s going to be a wonderful walking partner as she grows.

Lilly sleeps soundly through the night and wakes up ready to take on the day. She has been sleeping in her crate even though she is allowed on furniture, which shows how comfortable she feels with her routine. Her energy level is high in the best way — she plays hard, takes quick little recharge naps, and then is ready for her next adventure. An active home or a home with another playful dog would be a great match for her, and she would thrive with a family who enjoys being outside and keeping busy. She already shows signs that she’ll be an excellent hiking or adventure buddy once she’s old enough.

Lilly’s personality is pure joy. She absolutely loves the snow and embraces every new experience with excitement. Even after a bath, she was so eager to explore outside that we had to convince her it was time to come back in and warm up. She loves carrying shoes around like prized treasures, and watching her play with our Lab, Stanley, is endlessly entertaining. She even tries to climb onto his back during play, which is as funny as it is adorable. Add in her little “mohawk” on her nose, and she’s impossible not to smile at.

Lilly is a bright, affectionate, high-energy puppy who is going to thrive in a home ready to invest in her training, play with her, and include her in everyday life. With structure, activity, and love, she’s going to grow into an incredible companion.
