Meet Janet! She is a 2 year old, 55lb black lab that was originally rescued from a breeder. Janet was recently adopted and returned. She was living with 3 men/teenage boys for a few months and struggled to be comfortable around men (often hiding and avoiding them). She is very happy and sweet, but she will need to find the right family to help her learn to trust.
Personality
Janet is a gentle, sweet-natured girl who is blossoming a little more every day. While she’s still timid, she’s beginning to let her personality shine through. She happily follows her people around the house—especially if they’re in the kitchen preparing food. (Cheese is definitely one of her favorite treats!). She also loves other dogs! She absolutely comes alive when she is with another dog so she would enjoy a home with a canine companion.
Janet has an adorable habit of collecting toys, gathering her favorites into her own little stash. She’s looking for a patient family that will let her build confidence at her own pace.
Training
Janet loves her crate and considers it her safe space. She happily goes in and out on her own when the door is left open. She’s still nervous when people need to touch around her neck, such as putting on a slip lead or attaching a leash, so she’ll need a family that will continue using gentle, positive reinforcement to help build her confidence. With consistency, patience, and plenty of cheese, Janet continues to make wonderful progress each day.
