Meet Buddy! He is a 3 year old, 81lb yellow lab that was found stray in Tennessee.
Personality: Buddy has a calm and affectionate personality. He happily leans into hugs and attention and truly enjoys being loved on. Buddy seems interested in other dogs and is overall a very sweet, easygoing boy who is still figuring things out.
Training: Buddy is making great progress and already has some good habits. He goes potty outside and appears to keep his kennel clean. He walks on a leash fairly well with guidance and patience, though he is still learning. Buddy is not especially food motivated and can be a little picky about treats, but he will sit with encouragement and always takes treats very gently. He goes into his kennel without any issues and is learning more every day.
Updates
Buddy has been getting a crash course in family life while staying with grandsons whose parents are away in Europe—and he’s earning top marks across the board! This has been a big change all at once, with kids, another dog, and even a cat in the mix, but Buddy has handled it like a champ and has been such a good boy. We’re happy to report he gets an A+ for being gentle, adaptable, and easy to have around.
His appetite continues to improve, and while he’s a big boy, he could still fill out with a few extra pounds. He especially enjoys his meals with a little Freshpet mixed into his kibble.
Buddy is crate trained and stays in his crate when home alone. He may bark a little at first but settles nicely once he realizes it’s time to relax. At night, he prefers to sleep on the floor next to his person’s bed rather than in a dog bed—he seems to know exactly what’s comfortable for him!
Training is coming along well. Buddy already knows sit and is currently working on down and come. He walks nicely on leash and enjoys getting out and exploring.
Buddy’s sweet personality and easygoing nature would make him a wonderful companion in just about any home!
