We have treated hundreds of dogs for heartworm. The protocol for treatment is painful, expensive, and the dog has to be nearly immobile for 30 days. Monthly prevention and annual HW tests are absolutely critical for your pet’s continued health. The expense is minimal, especially in comparison to the treatment regiment. Ask your vet what he/she recommends and please be vigilant about maintaining your pet’s monthly HW prevention.
